Barbadians are asked to remain vigilant
Acting Senior Meteorologist, Sabu Best, explained that while the storm had weakened slightly, residents should remain indoors and continue to take precautions. He also warned sea bathers and other users of the sea to stay out of the water as the system would continue to affect the marine area.
Speaking during a press briefing at the National Emergency Operations Centre this morning, Minister of Home Affairs, Edmund Hinkson, and Director of the Department of Emergency Management, Kerry Hinds, also appealed to residents to continue listening to the advisories .
“The storm is said to be weakening and that is great news, but we are not out of danger yet,” said the Minister.
This was re-enforced by Ms. Hinds who said that it was a “relatively quiet day” which did not see any reports of major damage or loss of life. However, she too emphasized that persons should remain indoors at this stage and continue to monitor the media for updates.
