The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) brings visible expression to the Commonwealth. Values and principles are intangible, though they are at the heart of our work, and much of what we do goes on patiently behind the scenes; but the physical gathering of presidents and prime ministers, together with the unifying presence of the Queen as Head of the Commonwealth, raises out profile and shows to our citizens, and to the wider world, the scope and ambition embraced by this remarkable association.
A CHOGM is all about decision setting: leaders take the global pulse and reflect on how the Commonwealth can best respond and contribute.
This publication draws attention to some of the valuable work that is already under way and offers signposts for work still to be done.
Most importantly, it reminds us again of our peoples – for whose benefit all our work is done.
