The 35th Commonwealth Health Ministers Meeting (CHMM) is set to take place on 20 May in Geneva, Switzerland under the theme “Getting Universal Health Coverage in the Commonwealth on track for 2030”.

The meeting will be hosted by the Government of Kenya, bringing together Health Ministers, senior officials, and global health leaders from across the Commonwealth to advance progress on Universal Health Coverage, strengthen primary health care, and prepare for pandemics.

The meeting will provide an opportunity for Commonwealth member states to outline recommendations and solutions to ensure that Universal Health Coverage can be achieved by 2030, in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

The Commonwealth reported that the CHMM will be an important opportunity to accelerate progress towards the goal of Universal Health Coverage and strengthen preparedness for health emergencies, including for enabling an effective response to emergencies while maintaining access to essential health services.

The CHMM will provide a platform for Commonwealth member states to share experiences, knowledge, and best practices, and to discuss strategies to overcome barriers to achieving Universal Health Coverage.

The outcome of the meeting is expected to provide a roadmap for Commonwealth member states to achieve Universal Health Coverage by 2030, in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
