Eurotunnel has recorded the highest traffic volumes since the summer of 2020 in the half term and during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee holidays.
Against the backdrop of a generally increasing traffic, more than 57,000 passenger vehicles have crossed the Channel on Passenger Shuttles between 30 May and 5 June.
Some 180,000 people have reached their holiday destinations or taken part in the festivities organised for the Platinum Jubilee.
The Flexiplus service has been highly favoured over the period, with a more than doubled take-up since the same period in 2019.
Following Brexit, passengers travelling through the Eurotunnel terminals have benefited from duty free sales in the Victor Hugo (Folkestone) and Charles Dickens (Coquelles) terminal buildings – with prices up to 50 per cent lower than UK high streets.
“We are thrilled to see customers returning in such numbers and choosing our service,” commented Deborah Merrens, Eurotunnel Chief Commercial Officer.
“Our staff once again showed their unfailing commitment, adding further strength to Le Shuttle’s position as cross-Channel market leader”.
